lyrics

A tired man spoke to me at the bar,
Shuffling feet in well worn old shoes,
He said son I can tell, and I should know well,
That none of your dreams will come true,
You are destined to be let down,
By everyone who comes near,
And all you hold dear will crumble and disappear

So I replied to the man at the bar,
In my well worn not quite so old boots,
With a song on my lips, and at my fingertips,
I know that I never can lose,
I have to believe,
All these things won't bring me to my knees,
And as long as I'm trying I know that I'll always be free

Sometimes it feels like we're marching,
Into gales and pounding rain,
Scores of downtrodden cynics,
Insist our problems will remain,
We have plenty to keep us hopeful,
And lots of ways we can complain,
If we can stick together,
I know there are things we can change

In the face of these people just carry on,
Experienced doesn't always mean wise,
Be sure to walk with a bounce in your step,
And hold your head up high
